reverb's the word!

It felt like Christmas Eve last night. The nervous excitement of what is to come in the morning. This is what was waiting for me when I got up this morning:

Prompt:
One Word. Encapsulate the year 2010 in one word.
Explain why you're choosing that word.
Now, imagine it's one year from today,
what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?

After some quiet contemplation, here's what I've come up with.

2010 - Unleashed
- verb
1. to release from, or as if from, a leash; set loose to pursue or run at will.
2. to free from restraint or control

This was the year that I let go of so much, consciously and unconsciously. I left my job, put down the degree I was pursuing, and freed myself from the career path I was on. I have been on leave for over five months, the longest length of time I have not worked probably since I was fourteen. The trauma that I convinced myself, for over fifteen years, was resolved let itself loose and in order to truly heal this time, I had to let go of the tight grip I had on keeping myself together. In the process I unearthed a well of artistic desire and capability, and a lot more confidence as a result. I have been working to set free my voice, and to release myself from fear. Play and Laughter are making frequent appearances, and they love to run wild with Joy!

2011 - Check!

When I am sitting here, at the beginning of December 2011, this is the word that I hope has been very present in the year passing. I couldn't decide between actualizing and adventure, and then I realized... my list! It covers both. A very lovely friend inspired me to write a life list recently. 100 things I want to experience or accomplish, starting now. (This is not a wait until the ride's almost over list!) Here's a preview, I hope: Enroll in Computer Science degree program in January or September - check! Be there for my mom's 60th birthday bash in the spring - check! Visit New York city again, this time with Maverick - check! You see how this will work, yes? Perhaps I will keep a tally and report back this time next year how many Check!s I've made :)

Unleashed. That is pretty awesome. Very freeing. 2010 sounds like a great year. Bet 2011 is even better.

Very nice! Yay for you on releasing all that binds you and for taking the road to the unknown and finding what your truly love! The last six months of my life have been a little similiar. Here's to 2011, may it bring you (and me)everything you truly desire!

What a unique idea - check!

I wish you the best of luck "checking" all the great things on your to-do list in 2011!
